Sediment triad data

National Status and Trends Program - DOWNLOADED FOR 2004
Bioeffects assessment project - data available  for Mussel Watch, Stellwagen,  and Boston Harbor - also appear to be data other than these particular sites
Throughout GOM with more intense work at specific sites (Mussel Watch, Stellwagen, and Boston Harbor) The databases include: sediment, tissue, and water chemistry for over 80 organic and inorganic contaminants; toxicity bioassays; biomarker assays; histopathology; and benthic community assessment. Since 1986 - present http://ccma.nos.noaa.gov/stressors/pollution/BostonSedTox.html (Wendy Leo), http://www8.nos.noaa.gov/cit/nsandt/download/bi_monitoring.aspx
National Coastal Assessment - DOWNLOADED
EPA Sediment triad data collection program (other parameters collected also - like nutrients) > 300 records for the Northeast nutrients, sediment toxicity, benthic abundance, sediment chemistry 2000 - present Yes, http://www.epa.gov/emap/nca/html/regions/northeast.html and others (see Jawed e-mail)
USGS - DOWNLOADED
Contaminated sediments database for the Gulf of Maine, U.S. Geological Survey Open-file Report No. 02-403
Throughout GOM Contaminated sediment data compiled for Gulf of Maine Can't tell, Marilyn ten Brink (member of Subcommittee) is an author on this, she should know Yes, http://pubs.usgs.gov/of/2002/of02-403/index.htm
Environment Canada - PROBLEMS
St. Johns Harbor, Ocean Disposal Site St. John Harbor Includes multibeam and side scan, sediment physical and chemical analysis, sediment toxicological tests and benthic fauna surveys 1991
Yes, Christine has large PDF of report
MWRA - WAITING
Monitoring effects of upgrades to sewage treatment and disposal including moving discharge offshore
Massachusetts Bay, Cape Cod Bay, Boston Harbor
Benthic community data and chemistry - not toxicology. Also sediment profile imaging. Dozens of sampling sites.
1991-present (Boston Harbor)
1992-present (Massachusetts and Cape Cod Bays)
Personal communication, Wendy Leo (Contaminants member). All data available upon request.
Mass. Bays Program - DOWNLOADED
Sediment samples for sediment triad work including 3 suspected contaminated sites 12 Massachusetts/Cape Cod Stations Sediment pollutant concentrations, sediment/porewater toxicity, and benthic community structure 1993 (Report is on one-year) Hyland, Jeff and Helder Coasta, 1995. Examining Linkages between Contaminant Inputs and their Impacts on Living Marine Resources of the Massachusetts Bays Ecosystem through Application of the Sediment Quality Triad Method (210 pages).
Mussel Data

Gulfwatch Contaminant Monitoring Program Gulfwatch has measured contaminants in blue mussels (Mytilus edulis) to assess the types and concentration of contaminants in coastal waters of the Gulf of Maine Throughout Gulf of Maine (rotated among 38 sites) Includes PAHs, PCBs, chlorinated pesticides, and metals Since 1993 Member of Contaminants Subcommittee (CK)  has data available and is quite involved. Public access available for certain parameters (see http://www.gulfofmaine.org/gulfwatch/)
Maine Mussel Program
Blue Mussel monitoring
1st report: Five sites in 2006
2nd report: ~75 stations
Mercury, PAhs, PCBs
1st report: 1 year
2nd report: sampling appears to have begun in 1986

Shellfish Sanitation Data

Canadian Shellfish Sanitation Program (EC, DFO, Canadian Food Inspection Agency) Designed to protect consumers of shellfish from health hazards associated with bacterial contamination through the monitoring of shellfish growing waters.
NB and NS Coastlines Fecal coliform, temperature, salinity, amnesic shellfish poison (ASP), and paralytic shellfish poison (PSP) Canada/US legislature signed 1948 Looks like can access through DFO contacts (Jennifer Hackett?)
Massachusetts Shellfish Sanitation Program Designed to protect consumers of shellfish from health hazards associated with bacterial contamination through the monitoring of shellfish growing waters. Massachusetts Coastline > 2000 stations (not all in GOM) Water and shellfish sampling Canada/US legislature signed 1948 http://www.mass.gov/dfwele/dmf/programsandprojects/shelsani.htm - would need to contact
NH Shellfish Sanitation Program Designed to protect consumers of shellfish from health hazards associated with bacterial contamination through the monitoring of shellfish growing waters.
