Fisheries and Aquaculture Matrix

Do you agree with the groupings of indicators? Do you believe some potential indicators have been left off?

1. suggest relabeling aquaculture category to "Aquaculture Indicators" to be consistent with Fisheries category
2. suggest adding two indicators that are similar to fisheries capacity indicators, leased area (acres) and production type (for example bottom shellfish, suspended shellfish, restoration/enhancement either shellfish or finfish, marine finfish, salmonid)
3. I am uncertian what the difference is between economic value and market value from aquaculture cusatomers. Can you clarify?

1.There should be some water quality indicators added. Not sure what the appropriate ones are but decreasing water quality in nearshore environments due to residential development is a BIG problem that has big impacts on both fisheries and aquaculture.
2. Is anyone tracking quantitatively recreation boat use? We are beginning to see significant impacts on water quality and user conflicts with fisheries and aquaculture. How about acres of private docks (presumably everyone has to apply for a permit so it is tracked somewhere and acres of private marinas? Is another group tracking this?

Water Quality

Sebastian -

I think most of the water quality is encompassed by the work of the eutrophication group (see their folder in the ESIP Planning site). However, this is a good item to bring up at the conference call that I will be scheduling shortly for the F&A subcommittee.

Best,
Christine
