Gulfwatch Environmental Monitoring: Review and Assessment - Final Report to the Gulf of Maine Council. Bruce W. Tripp. 3 October 1997

In 1989, the Gulf of Maine Council on the Marine Environment endorsed the concept of a Gulf-wide environmental health monitoring project and funded a pilot project consistent with the goals of the Gulf of Maine Environmental Monitoring Plan. The Monitoring Plan is based on a mission statement provided by the Council: It is the mission of the Gulf of Maine Marine Environmental Quality Monitoring Program to provide environmental and resource managers with information to support sustainable use of the Gulf and allow assessment and management of risk to public and environmental health from current and potential threats. This assessment builds upon the preliminary report from June 1997. This resource contains an overview of the guiding principles of Gulfwatch, as well as recommendations for the program, including program design modifications and modification to sampling, analysis and data interpretation.
