Gulf of Maine Habitat: Workshop Proceedings, Regional Association for Research on the Gulf of Maine. Report number 94-2, Stevenson, D., and Braasch, E., Editors. 146 pp.

This Gulf of Maine Habitat workshop was convened on April 12-13, 1994 by the Regional Marine Research Program for the Gulf of Maine and the Regional Association for Research on the Gulf of Maine. The goal of this workshop was to identify the habitat-related information needs and determine the research required to provide this information. The participants were divided into four working groups, each of which were given either fisheries resources, water and sediment quality, biodiversity or coastal habitat alteration as a topic. Each group was asked to consider the following three questions as they relate to their topic: what are the management goals, what information is needed for management, and what research is required to provide the information needed for management. The report summarizes the conclusions of each working group, as well as elucidates four common themes running through each group. The majority of this report is composed of plenary papers and abstracts on a variety of marine habitat issues, including fish distribution and pollution. This resource also contains the reports of each of the four working groups.
