GULF OF MAINE REGION (NOVA SCOTIA, NEW BRUNSWICK, MAINE, NEW HAMPSHIRE, MASSACHUSETTS) \u2013 During a ceremony hosted by the Massachusetts Office of Coastal Zone Management in Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts on the evening of June 11, 2024, the Gulf of Maine Council presented international awards to honor individuals and organizations that have made a significant difference in protecting the health and sustainability of the Gulf of Maine watershed. The 2024 awards ceremony recognized 15 incredible award winners from Canada and the United States whose volunteer and professional efforts have supported the Gulf of Maine Council\u2019s binational collaboration to protect the unique habitat, marine life, and economic resources of the Gulf of Maine ecosystem.<\/p>\n

\n<\/strong>The Gulf of Maine Council honored the work of eight individuals and one organization with Visionary Awards in recognition of their outstanding innovation, creativity, and commitment to protecting natural resources within the Gulf of Maine.<\/p>\n\n

\n<\/strong>The Gulf of Maine Council on the Marine Environment was established in 1989 by the Governments of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts to foster cooperative actions within the Gulf watershed. The Council\u2019s mission is to maintain and enhance environmental quality in the Gulf of Maine to allow for sustainable resource use by existing and future generations.
